Few days ago, WhatsApp rolled out the disappearing feature to its beta testers.

Early this year, disputations arose amongst top tech companies like Facebook & Apple over Privacy concerns in the public interest and who’s actually protecting the public interest. Apple had claimed it had to protect its users hence the need for an authorization in which the device operator will have to give permission before each app could have access to certain private data on the device.

Facebook who owns WhatsApp has also emphasized the need to help small businesses grow hence the need to help small businesses reach out to their target audience through their system algorithms which could tell what to throw at your screen.

Privacy concerns has been a big bone of contention over which we’ve seen some other instant messaging app like Signal sprang up to address by making privacy a top priority.

The 24-hours disappearing feature if turned on, would automatically make messages disappear after 24 hours. This feature wouldn’t assure an absolute safety of chat from being leaked as there’s the possibility of a screen shot being taken, the message also may still be on the notifications panel if not opened within 24 hours etc.

Well, as earlier mentioned, it’s still on beta testing which means there is no 100% assurance that this feature would eventually be rolled out to all users, but we hope it would.
