Apple has added a new button to the iPhones but that might have gone unnoticed by most users. With the latest iOS 14, Apple not only rolled out software updates but also rolled out a new hardware feature as well. Now, if you start looking for a physical button, you would not find it because it is practically impossible. However, the entire back panel of the iPhone has now become a touch-sensitive zone because of the new Back Tap feature.

The new hardware feature that was rolled out by Apple without much fanfare turns the back panel of an iPhone into a button that can be woken up by taps. However, to use the feature you will have to first find and turn on the Back Tap feature.

In your iPhone, go to settings first and then go to Accessibility and then Touch. Then if you scroll down, you will find the Back Tap option which you will have to turn on. When you tap on the Back Tap option, you will be taken to a separate screen where you will be getting two options to choose from— Double Tap and Triple Tap. When you choose either of them, you will be given a list of things you can do simply by tapping twice on the rear panel of your phone.

For instance, you choose the Lock Screen option and lock your screen simply by tapping twice on the back panel of your phone. Similarly, you can take screenshots by tapping twice or thrice at the back panel of your phone. The best bit is that there are no specific areas where you should tap to activate the feature. You can tap anywhere on the entire back panel even on the extreme corners to lock your screen or take a screenshot.

The Back Tap option can also be used to make certain apps function. However, if you dont not wish to use the feature, you can turn it off the same way you turned it on.
