Last week, Casio added a smartwatch to its already existing line of fitness watches – The GBA900, which is expected to be available from tomorrow, May 19.

The fitness watch could connect to mobile devices through a Bluetooth connection in which access to as much information collected automatically through its tracking sensor is made available via a mobile app that would have to be downloaded on the connected mobile device.

The GBA900 has a conventional G-Shock build, in other words; round dial, rugged body, rubber straps etc. However, it carries more functionalities than its counterparts in that it consists of both analog and digital components. On its face is a visible dial that tells the time and an LCD underneath that displays information such as daily steps count, calories burnt, speed and running distance. The connectivity strength with the mobile device could also be seen on the screen.

It features shock resistance with a battery life of up to 24 months and a water resistance of about 200 meters. Its memory could store up to 45 stopwatch lap time and 5 daily alarms while also being able to give the current time of 31 different time zones around the world. Although it doesn’t have a heart rate or blood-oxygen sensor, it’s able to only collect data from its accelerometer which makes sense considering its retail price.

The new fitness watch which comes in black and white options and happens to be the cheapest on Casio’s fitness watch line can be bought at a price of about NGN 54,000 ($130) but may only be ordered in physical stores in the USA and G-Shock’s website for the time being.
