Black friday is a season of great deals. In the spirit of celebration, we would love you to learn some really weird facts about the season.

In the 1800’s, the term “Black Friday” was used in reference to the stock market crashes.
The predecessor to Black Friday were the Santa Claus parades which was first held in Canada.
Reported by CNN, Black Friday is the busiest day of the year for plumbers. I guess you know why.
Retailers petitioned the US President so that people can shop earlier for Christmas, hence holiday shoppers indirectly determined the date for Thanksgiving.
Black Friday is a Philadelphia slang but was once tried to be changed to Big Friday which never worked out.
Black Friday wasn’t officially claimed to be the busiest shopping day of the year, until 2001.
Black Friday, a US tradition has spread to over 15 countries in the world.
In Mexico, it is referred to as “El Buen Fin”, which translates to “the good weekend” which actually lasts through the weekend.
In 2011, Walmart broke the tradition of Black Friday by opening stores on the evening of Thanksgiving.
According to a survey conducted on behalf of the coupon site RetailMeNot, 12% of all Black Friday shoppers admit they hit the stores whilst under the influence of alcohol. We hope you don’t hit Picharge drunk though 🙂
