WhatsApp is reportedly planning to stop iOS 9 or older users from using the chat app.
According to a tweet by WAbetainfo “WhatsApp Messenger beta 2.21.50 drops the support for iOS 9”, this is suggestive of the daily increasing rate of advancement in smartphone device technology as older devices seem to be missing out on latest features by most app developers.
The iphone 4s which is the last device to stop getting update after the iOS 9 would now no longer be able to run the app once the update is implemented.
Apple, known for its uniqueness in competition, one of which is not hard to come by is the fact that Apple devices tend to stay longer than android on majorly used app software updates. This is a strength people seem not to notice. It is advantageous to be able to keep a device app-relevant for a longer time frame than one that would be kicked out after a few years.
An instance is when one’s everyday phone is stolen or misplaced, having an older phone that could act as a backup until the period in which procurement of another happens is usually underrated until one is in such a position. However, having such a backup device only to discover it’s accessibility has been kicked out of the mostly used social media writes disappointment all over one’s face.
