Twitter has recently introduced a new feature that allows users of the popular social media app send money as a kind of tip to appreciate other user’s works, although not all Twitter accounts have the feature to make a receipt. It’s called the ‘Tip Jar’.
The Tip jar as stated by Twitter’s senior product manager Esther Crawford in a blog post announcing the feature will ‘make it easier for you to support each other beyond Follows, Retweets, and Likes’.
Whenever things go viral over the internet, people would often want to show some love in order to help the course. We’ve had a lot of companies and startups pushed into limelight by these sort of tweets and posts that went viral. However, no social media platform has actually implemented a practical means of bridging this gap between showing some ‘internet love’ and pushing the course forward in terms of money donations.
Facebook tried to introduce its own kind of currency – Libra, which was never intended to support online campaigns specifically, yet little is currently known about it.
How to Know What Twitter Account can receive?
‘You’ll know an account’s Tip Jar is enabled if you see a Tip Jar icon next to the Follow button on their profile page. Tap the icon, and you’ll see a list of payment services or platforms that the account has enabled. Select whichever payment service or platform you prefer and you’ll be taken off Twitter to the selected app where you can show your support in the amount you choose. The services you can add today include Bandcamp, Cash App, Patreon, PayPal and Venmo.’ Continues the blog post.
