Apple is expected to release its iOS 14.5 update at its press event holding today (Tuesday, April 20th). although the main focus of the event is expected to be in regards to the new iPad pro models and the ever anticipated airtags.

Sometimes ago, Apple created a controversy other giants like Google and Facebook seem to disagree with. This is regarding its announcement to disallow apps from automatic access to the device ID which is a recognition tool used in targeting users with Ads based on the data collected about their activities on the internet. Well, the restriction decision would materialize once iPhone users update to the iOS 14.5 release. A report by Adweek expressed that about two-thirds of iPhone users are expected to take advantage of these restrictive feature.

Another highlight of this release is a solution to the face ID unlock problem experienced by users while having their face mask on as it has become an everyday safety measure due to the global pandemic. Apple has resorted to solving this issue by making the phone unlock via a connected Apple watch at a specified distance around the phone. The Apple watch must have been updated to watch OS 7.4 to be able to perform this function.

Users who may be concerned about this style of unlock which may be used by people around them to get unfettered access to their iPhone are covered as their Apple watch would notify them and also provide an option to immediately keep their iPhone locked.

Other expected features include battery health recalibration tool that will aid longer battery life, new voices on Siri, accident and crowd reporting options on Apple maps etc.
